Poolton ride 4th December 2011

Report

Snow and wind the week before did not bode well with memories of Feb ‘11 and cancelled rides. But this is a ride that is close to the coast, no hills and great draining sandy soil; so it was always on for those who could get there. And the turn out was good.

17 riders enjoyed a 10 and 17 km route through fields, pasture and beautiful woods. The ground was perfect, suiting the bare footers in particular; little road work and sandy tracks.

Lovely cantering loops in the woods. The 'up and down' sections were hilarious; like being on a roller coaster. And then some logs to pop over for the more adventurous.

A well marked ride with ground that suited the weather and time of year.

A big thanks to Sarah Norris and Tilly Helpburn-Wright for organising this ride. Helpers, Warwick, Lorna T and Lorna B did a great job as heppy helpers on the day. And Lois and Pat made fantastic soup! Thank you all.

Colin Philip at Poolton - thank you Colin for making us so welcome at the venue and doing all that extra work to make the ride run so smoothly. Your support is very much appreciated.
